Tomatillo and Tomato Salsa With Chipotle Chilies

 

Ingredients -

6 Small Tomatillos, husked
5 Large Garlic Cloves
4 Plum Tomatoes
1/4 Large White or Yellow Onion
3 Canned Chipotle Chilies in Adobo Sauce, seeded and finely chopped, with 2 teaspoons Adobo Sauce
3 tablespoons Finely Chopped Fresh Cilantro
Coarse Salt
1/2 teaspoon Sugar

 
Preparation:

1. Place a large cast iron skillet on high heat.

2. Lower the heat to low.

3. Add the first 4 ingredients and cook until the vegetables are soft and blackened in spots, which takes about 8 to 10 minutes.

4. Remove the vegetables to a plate and allow to cool.

5. Add the vegetables to a food processor and pulse until it is coarsely chopped.

6. Add the remaining ingredients and pulse until combined.

7. Serve, refrigerating the leftovers.
